Briefly defined, they are a marginally sightless quadruped using a wide collar of fungus to help the animal afloat on the surface of bodies of water. In younger nymph stage, a Lilypad Hippo can walk around without the fungal collar impeding movement, but as these hippos age, the collar grows beyond the circumference of their legs, leading a hippo eventually remaining in a floating state, with the collar continuing to grow as fungal roots sprout from the hippo corpus further into the body of the water, scientific illustration, --v 6.0 --style raw --ar 16:9
